Postdoctoral Position: Transgenic insects carrying conditional lethal genes

A postdoctoral position is available in the Scott lab to evaluate conditional lethal genetic systems in insects that are vectors of plant viruses. This will involve making gene constructs and injecting the DNA into insect embryos. The focus will be on aphid and leaf hopper species. This is part of a large multi-investigator project to develop insect strains that transmit viruses carrying Cas9 for editing the corn genome. The conditional lethal genes are required for greenhouse trials but could also be potentially used for genetic control of the pest species. For further information:
