A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Zach Adelman to lead the development of novel genetic technologies capable of influencing the transmission of engineered transgenes in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities include designing synthetic DNA constructs, obtaining and analyzing transgenic insect strains, scoring patterns of heredity and performing molecular analyses of integrated transgenes/gene expression. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or closely related field, with demonstrated research experience/training in molecular biology techniques. Preferred special knowledge includes skills in the genetics and manipulation of insects, gene expression analysis, as well as familiarity with the principles of biological containment.
