A Postdoctoral Associate position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Zhijian (Jake) Tu in the Department of Biochemistry at Virginia Tech in the broad area of mosquito molecular genetics and biochemistry. The successful candidate will use gene editing and other molecular and biochemical methods to study the mechanism of sex-determination in mosquitoes. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop or use novel evolutionary and functional genomics methods to study Y chromosome or M-locus genes across different mosquito species. A PhD in Biochemistry, Genetics or related fields is required. Experience with mosquito genetics OR background in biochemical analysis of protein-RNA or protein-protein interactions is preferred.
