Germ-line Expression of Cas9 Improves Knock-in Rates

Optimization of genome editing is a moving target but Gratz et al. find that germ-line specific expression of Cas9 yielded the highest frequency of knock-in events in Drosophila melanogaster. This approach could be taken in a number of other insect species for which the creation of transgenics with germ-line specific Cas9 expression is feasible.
