The IGTRCN is seeking someone to manage Technology Topics – a weekly blog providing subscribers with information about the latest publications related to insect genetic technologies that is communicated to them via an e-newsletter. The blog is intended to be informational with the intention of leading readers to original scientific research that may be of interest to them.
Duties include combing the current literature for publications of interest to Technology Topics, soliciting bloggers from within the IGTRCN (usually postdoctoral researchers and graduate students), writing blogs, editing blogs, adding graphics (open source or attributable) that add interest and support the blog’s text, posting the blog on igtrcn.org, updating the IGTRCN’s Mailchimp account to reflect the content of each weeks e-newsletter and associated Tweet.
Managing Technology Topics is an excellent way to keep abreast of the scientific literature and would be appropriate for mature postdocs, junior and senior scientists.
This is an unpaid position for 1 year.
Technology Topics is a valuable and popular service the IGTRCN provides to the community of network participants, making the Manager a unique contributor to the field of insect science.
Training and oversight will be provided.
